I know the following story it just too bizarre to believe, but it really did happen.
I was SO excited to go to Delta and St. George for spring break. I couldn't wait to eat mush at my grandparents and spend time in the warm Southern Utah weather. After Jake's car accident 1 1/2 weeks ago I thought I might not be able to go since we were down to one car but he got a rental and off I went Thursday evening after work. I got as far as the Beck Street exit in Salt Lake when traffic came to a sudden halt due to rush hour and the far left lane closing. I stopped and so did the jeep behind me (although she was awful close) but to my great disappointment the Xterra behind her did not stop and plowed the jeep right up my car's... backside. I was horrified as I looked in the rear view mirror and saw my trunk standing straight up in the air. I just kept thinking, "please let my suitcase be intact, I don't want my underwear all over the freeway!". Luckily just the handle was broken, no panties in the road. The police came and after hours of reports and people examining my car, making sure it was okay to drive back to Logan, I bought some duct tape and bungee cords (since I couldn't for the life of me get the trunk to stay down) and bandaged the Accord back together and headed home. (Becca, I know that is a run-on sentence, but I don't care) I had a few tears in my eyes, mostly because I LOVE that car and she didn't deserve to be smashed like that in front of all those gawkers.
So, now we have one rental car until my car is fixed (hopefully by the 24th). The garage seems so empty. If everyone could pray that Jake will find a replacement vehicle in less than 6 months I would appreciate it.
I know, I should have been an ER doctor
The rental car (that Jake wants to jump off a cliff)
The cake I was taking to my dad :(
It still tastes delicious, even if it went flying forward off the back seat and got smashed in the container!

That sucks so bad! I'm sorry. I hope they cited the idiot in the Xterra.
I so love that you eat mush! I thought I was the only one who called it that!
I am so sad for you guys. What are the chances? I am glad that your panties and the cake were mostly intact though. That is what is really important.
Shan, I can't believe it! That really stinks! I love the picture of the duct tape job. You are pretty clever to think of it, I would have been all flustered and just gone home with a dumb trunk sticking up all over. We actually had 2 cars die in one week...no fun.
I still can't believe that happened. Are you ok??? You should be down here with me right now. We'll see you soon enough...
I have decided that when it comes to vehicles, when it rains it pours. We never have just one problem with one vehicle...everything on both cars fall apart at once. Sorry about the bad luck....why can't people in Utah just learn to drive....I am so terrified to drive on the freeway because there are so many morons!!!!
Too bad! That is some bad luck if you ask me; but since you didn't...Anyway better luck and I don't blame Jake one bit for wanting that car to jump of a cliff. But good job bandaging your car.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh, stop eating my cake! It looks so good, but really I just wanted to get to see you, you know! Your car is so sad looking. Sorry! Dad
What!?!? I am so sorry for your streak of bad luck! Have you been breaking mirrors? Or seeing black cats? I hope it's a small consolation that neither of the crashes were your fault. Glad you're okay!
I'm laughing at the duck tape job!! WOW!! And thinking about your suitcase being all over the road......lucky for you!! How sweet you had made your dad a cake, that is so cute! Loved the pic of you eating it!
I am so glad I found your blog. I can't believe that story about your car. Next time you should call me because we are in Bountiful now! I am glad that we can stay updated this way.
Hey Shan I found your blog from a link on Val's blog so now I can stock you :) You can stock me too if you want.... My blog is sweetbreezypie.blogspot.com
That's unbelievable about your car accidents!! And I thought it was bad when Jeremy and I each got a traffic ticket within a month of each other. I guess I'll count my blessings!
We are moving to Ogden in about three weeks, so we'll have to do lunch or something.
Drive safe.
